The Yoga solution might work... I've seen people build mental fortress so solid that even when talking, they will avoid the topic. Detach from facing emotions/feelings is a normal reaction to protect self, but not a solution to grow.

You are absolutely spot on. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this topic, I guess growth can feel difficult sometimes which puts people off…

I've been doing yoga therapy to get back into my body when experiencing a trauma flare. So much better than a psychotropic medication for PTSD, which is only numbing, though I believe those have their place, too, of course. But I prefer body work because it has no side effects and promotes overall health.

I've been exploring Somatic Experiencing. I'm reading Peter Levine's writing right now. I'm also in the midst of starting EMDR, which is touching the trauma in ways I've never experienced with talk therapy. You're right on!

Thank you so much for commenting and sharing your experience. I’m super keen to try EMDR, and find it so affirming that you’ve had a positive experience with it.

Makes sense. I think a lot of people convince themselves they’re healing when they’re really just stuck analyzing everything instead of feeling it.

I really appreciate you taking the time to read the article and share your thoughts. I absolutely agree with what you just said. It feels like they’re making progress but it’s actually just keeping them in a loop that helps them to avoid feeling their feelings, preventing many from moving forward.
