routine is key. You may not always want to stick to your routine, but the structure, safety of what to expect, and integration of things you enjoy will help you to achieve your goals, encourage feelings of pride because you’ve remained disciplined, and will show a full and well-lived life to others.

A pattern I’m seeing

I didn’t realise I was building up a routine that worked for me until others commented on it. Deep in the depths of a breakup, I decided to start to build a routine for myself where I would do the things I needed or wanted to do, which met key hungers for connection, structure and validation. Little did I know that when I would start to date again, the routine would protect me from losing myself in the uncertainty of a talking stage, helping me to stay grounded and more secure than I had been before.

Something worth reading, watching or listening to

I really enjoyed this video on The Law of Resonance. I really do believe there is something to be said for who and what we attract into our lives and how this is often shaped by the shadow work we’ve done, our levels of self-awareness and the patterns we’re willing to uncover and unlearn. Ever wondered why chaotic people tend to surround themselves with chaos or why calm and centred people may be turned off an avoidant partner? It’s usually rooted in the concept of resonance.

Things helping me this week to do the work within

Often when we’re triggered, we’re quick to distract ourselves immediately. We assume that feeling uncomfortable is a bad thing, and allow ourselves to spiral and create false narratives about a person, place or thing. I’ve come to recognise that these narratives aren’t reliable and feeling uncomfortable may not be a bad thing. Maybe it’s a period of recalibration and your nervous system rewiring ti unlearn long-held beliefs or expectations.

A question I’m sitting with

What if we embrace uncertainty and recognise that feeling uncomfortable might be a good thing? Does that change how we view levels of comfort if we know it might be short term pain for long term gain?

The Work Within is a reader-supported publication. a tendency to want to rush relationships, speed through the talking stage or force intimacy, although it can feel familiar and reassuring to your nervous system, if you start off at 100%, the only place you can go from here is down. Focus on a slow burn, and cultivating s good life outside of a romantic relationship.

A pattern I’m seeing

Struggling with stillness can affect people at any age. My 90 year old grandma recently confided in me that she struggles to sleep because of the struggle she has with sitting still. We think that stillness is something smartphone savvy folk struggle with, but it can affect anyone at any time.

Something worth reading, watching or listening to

If you enjoyed reading my article on why talk therapy sometimes isn’t enough, listen to the Healing Honeys podcast on this exact topic.

Things helping me this week to do the work within

I’ve shared it in a post this week, but using AI tools for self-reflection, accountability and insight on my attachment hunger and anxiety has enabled me to show up more securely in the talking stage and to recognise my triggers and where I still need to do some work. AI has been a great tool in helping me to understand and make sense of my emotions, and I really believe this is critical to expanding my window of tolerance and enabling me to sit with uncertainty.

A question I’m sitting with

What a regulated nervous system looks like and how to maintain levels of regulation in a triggering relationship. Insecurity, the tendency to pedestal partners and dealing with uncertainty can be dysregulating.
